KITS - The Glow
Lancaster based Jayson Turner is a computer scientist by day, and by night he records music under the moniker KITS. The first original song he has recorded is "The Glow", a self-described synthfolk track (I guess folktronica has become a bit passé), which mixes a pure voice and guitar with ethereal and warm electronic noodling. It's a mixture of sounds that have been done many times before - yet somehow KITS have managed to put their own stamp on it. Keep an eye out for the name in the future, it's bound to be one you'll be hearing a lot of in the future.
"The Glow" is available to download in exchange for an email address.

Sound and the Urgency - White Kids
The song "White Kids", in the words of Portland based Sound and the Urgency, is "a folktronic ode to shopping malls and future CEOs."After the odd electric noodling of the first 50 seconds, the song settles into an expansive, acoustic driven track, which despite lyrics like 'I'm going to shoot them down with my gun,' is a surprisingly tender track, sounding not too dissimilar to the heartfelt rock of The Airbourne Toxic Event.
"White Kids" by Sound and the Urgency features on the band's self-titled debut album, and is available to download for free.

Bleeding Heart Narrative - Shoals

On "Shoals" by London based sextet Bleeding Heart Narrative, the band effortlessly meld massive folk-based harmonies and harmonics with understated electronic noodling to create heartwarming sounds in the mould of James Yuill and Tunng. (I would call it folktronica, but given how many bands who are given the label do not like it, I will refrain from doing so).
The song is taken from their "Bison E.P", which will be released on the 21st November on Brainlove Records.
